Sindh government decides to cancel registration of poor and unsafe commercial vehicles

The Sindh government has decided to cancel the registration of poor and unsafe commercial vehicles by taking another important step to prevent the ongoing traffic accidents in the city.

According to Express News, Sindh Senior Minister Sharjeel Aam Memon and Provincial Minister for Information, Transport and Mass Transit were chaired by Transport and Mass Transit Department in his office in Sindh Secretariat Karachi.

The meeting was attended by Secretary Transport Asad Zaman, Managing Director of Sindh Mass Transit Authority, Kamal Daew, People’s Bus Service Project Director Sahib Shafiq and others.

The meeting reviewed the progress on various transport projects and government measures related to road safety and important decisions were made to build commercial vehicles inspection system on modern lines.

On the instructions of Senior Minister Sharjeel Aam Memon, the meeting also decided to set up MVI centers to inspect commercial vehicles on the National Highway and Super Highway.

Speaking on the occasion, senior minister of Sindh Sharjeel Aamiz Memon said that 10 MVI centers are being set up to inspect commercial vehicles across Sindh. Two MVI centers are already active in Karachi. Work on more centers is being completed soon.

He said that the establishment of MVI centers on the National Highway and the Super Highway would ensure fitness before entering the city of vehicles. He said that three more MVI centers are being set up in Karachi and the rest of Sindh in the rest of Sindh. We are taking every possible step to make the transport sector modern, safe and public friendly.

Senior Xi’ijeel Sharjeel Aam Memon said that in June, 34 new electric buses and 5 double -decker buses will arrive in Karachi, while 100 more buses will arrive in June.

On the occasion, Senior Minister Sharjeel Aamiz Memon also issued instructions for the introduction of 500 electric taxis in the initial phase.

He said that we are trying to provide cheap, environmentally friendly and confident travel facilities to the people. Sindh’s transport system is entering a new era, which is keeping both modern technology and facilities.

Other important decisions made at the meeting

The meeting decided to start a new route next week by using the Green Line and Orange Line vehicles.

Sindh Senior Minister Sharjeel Aamiz Memon has issued instructions to the Transport Department to launch a specific punk EV scooter scheme for women soon.

Women and students working for Punk Scotti have been declared a driving license for applicants.
