Federal Minister for Planning Ahsan Iqbal has said that economists, researchers and policy makers will have to play a leading role in putting Pakistan on the path of stagnation, uncertainty and policies.
Speaking at the 38th Annual Meeting of the Pakistan Society of Development Economics (PSDE) held at a local hotel in Islamabad, Federal Minister Ahsan Iqbal said that the government’s goal under Pakistan is to make Pakistan a trillion -dollar economy by 2035 when it is possible to make it possible to make it a nationwide economy.
He said that the economists are the physician of the nation’s economy who has to properly diagnose the disease and suggest treatment. The crisis that Pakistan’s economy is currently suffering from is not timely but of systematic and structural nature.
He said that we have to re -establish our development model and learn from the countries that have started the journey with us but have gone ahead today.
Ahsan Iqbal said that the economists have a duty to create consensus on national priorities so that important policy decisions remain in every incoming government and the nation does not remove the long -term development target.
The Federal Minister called on economists to formulate policies in keeping with climate risks in agricultural, water and residential projects that guarantee future threats.
